LaGrange, Ohio, December 1, 2006.  Inservco, Inc. restructured its manufacturing facility. The Manufacturing floor was realigned to improve process flow, establish in-line testing of product and incorporation of point of use inventory throughout manufacturing. This exercise involved determining the location of machines, workstations, and other departments to achieve Inservco’s principal objectives:

• Minimize material handling
• Facilitate material flow - Simplicity of material flow
• Provide a safe workplace for employees
• Determine work centers (how many and how they are distributed)
• Provide supervision and face-to-face communications

Our Operation and Material teams have developed new ways to enhance and effectively supply chain programs to support a demand pull system. The new layout further expands Point of Use (POU) for all the components in our inventory and maximizes material stock rotation for Kan Ban assemblies. The new plant layout was strategically enhanced to develop ways to optimize lowest total cost, scalability, and responsiveness.

The result of the new layout is very fast throughput and easy communication among employees due to strategic location of departments and improved quality and coordination.

Proximity and a common mission will enhance teamwork and this results in complete organizational improvements of the plant.
